The Prince William County Planning Commission has approved a 1 million sq ft data centre in Haymarket, North Virginia. The Village Place Technology Park required a re-zoning and special use permit. The Park is managed by a shell company, CTP-I LLC, its real identity is currently unknown.
The Village Park project is estimated to cost $280.5 million and is expected to be developed by 2024.
The site will span 1,020,000 square foot (94,761 sq m) of data centre space. There will be four data centre buildings to be developed in phases.
According to an article by Data Centre Dynamics there has been a great deal of local controversy surrounding the overhead transmission lines needed to supply power to the campus.
