AWS plans second infrastructure region in the UAE

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced plans for a second infrastructure region in the United Arab Emirates. The new AWS Middle East (UAE) region due to open in the first half of 2022 will consist of three Availability Zones. The company opened their first Middle Eastern region in Bahrain in 2019.

The company already has UAE Edge locations in Dubai and Fujairah but has not released details of where the three new data centres will be located.

“We are excited to build on the great momentum of cloud adoption in the Middle East by providing more choice for customers in the UAE to run applications and store data locally,” said Peter DeSantis, AWS Senior Vice President of Global Infrastructure.
