Cologix, one of Canada’s largest hyperscale operators, has acquired an interconnection facility in Vancouver from Zayo Group Holdings and is also opening another data centre in Toronto. The company continues its investment strategy into domestic capacity amid rising customer demand and record interconnection growth.
The Vancouver facility has 65,000 sq ft of space and Cologix will add 4.2MW of IT capacity. After the acquisition, Zayo will remain as anchor tenant and will continue to provide network connectivity for Cologix’s customers as well as its own.
The new data centre in Toronto, TOR4, will have 50,000 sq ft and 10MW of power. Located in downtown Markham, near the city’s primary carrier hotel. It offers dark fibre connectivity between the TOR4 and TOR1 data centres. The facility also offers potential for further expansion.
