Digital 9 Infrastructure, the newly established investment trust, has acquired Icelandic data centre operator, Verne Global, for $320 million. Verne operates a single 100% renewable power campus on a former NATO site near Keflavik with a capacity of 24MW, and a further 8MW under development.
The deal is D9’s first data centre investment, after the company launched earlier this year. Managed by Triple Point Investment Management, D9 raised $423 million in a March IPO, and then acquired submarine cable owner Aqua Comms for $215m. In June, it raised an additional $250m.
D9 plans another equity raise, and said that it had identified a further six investments with an aggregate value of around $277m, as well as another $650m in other digital infrastructure deals.
