EQT-owned EdgeConneX has announced that it has agreed to acquire Global Data Centres (GDC) an Israel-based operator headquartered in Herzliya, the hub of Israel’s high-tech district. Once completed, the acquisition will add two new facilities to the EdgeConneX global platform.
Global Data Center was founded in 2013 by Moshe Lasman with the financial backing of the Viola Group, a leading private equity investment firm. GDC operates two highly secure, subterranean data centres in Tel Aviv, one in Herzliya Pituach, and the second in Petah Tikva.
Backed by EQT Infrastructure, one of the world’s largest infrastructure funds, EdgeConneX has a global portfolio of 50 data centres located in over 40 markets around the world.
Israel’s data centre market is showing strong interest with announced developments in the country from AWS, NTT and, most recently, Global Technical Realty.
