Chinese data centre developer and operator, GDS Holdings, has announced that it is expanding into the South East Asian region in response to growing demand for digital infrastructure and cloud services.
The greenfield land in the Nusajaya Tech Park will be developed into a data centre campus with 22,500 sq m of net technical space and 54MW of total IT power capacity. The first phase of the development, with a capacity of 18MW, is expected to be completed in early 2024. GDS says that the site is ideally located to meet regional demand due to its proximity both to Johor Bahru and Singapore.
GDS currently operates seven cloud regions, mostly in mainland China.
