Proximity acquires regional edge data centre in Swindon, UK

Proximity Data Centres, one of the UK’s fastest growing colocation providers has announced the addition of a new site. Located in Swindon, Wiltshire, the 89,000 sq ft the Proximity Edge 7 facility can accommodate up to 2000 racks with a total IT capacity of 7MW, expandable to 14MW.

The Swindon facility joins Proximity’s existing network of interconnected regional edge data centres across the UK in Bridgend, Nottingham, Rugby, Liverpool, Chester Gates and Wakefield.

The company expects to have a total of 20 sites available “within the next 12 months”, all near to major conurbations, which will allow customers to ensure low latency and optimised data transit costs for their content and cloud services, said Proximity.
