Rack Centre, the West African data centre colocation provider, has completed the doubling of power capacity at its Lagos, Nigeria campus to 1.5MW. The extra capacity will be used to better serve the needs of cloud providers, content providers and enterprise customers with an additional 6,500 sq ft of white space.
The Tier III facility is in the process of being expanded by a further 13MW of capacity, which is expected to come on stream in 2022.
Ayotunde Coker, Managing Director of Rack Centre, said: “The Lagos campus is a digital infrastructure hub for West Africa and West Central Africa, and halves the latency of data transfer from South Africa to Europe and the US.”
In March 2020, Rack Centre saw a controlling stake in the company going to Actis, the UK private equity firm, and Convergence Partners, the Africa technology private equity company. The existing investor Jagal remains a “significant investor”, says the firm.
