ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), the Singaporean based data centre operator, has agreed terms for a joint venture with an Indonesian conglomerate, Triputra Group, as well as global investment company, Temasek, to develop new data centre infrastructure in Jakarta, Indonesia.
STT GDC has a track record of expanding into new markets through partnerships. In 2014 the company partnered with GDS to expand into China. Three years later in 2017 it partnered with Tata Communications in India. In 2019 it expanded into Thailand through a JV with Frasers Property Thailand. Earlier this year, STT GDC agreed a JV with Hyosung Heavy Industries to develop data centres in South Korea. STT GDC also has presence in Europe through its UK subsidiary, VIRTUS Data Centres.
The partners plan to develop their first data centre campus in the Greenland International Industrial Centre in Kota Deltamas, Cikarang, Bekasi. Construction will occur in phases, the first of which will begin in the next few months and complete in Q1 2023. Once fully developed, the campus will support a total IT capacity of 72MW.
