Data centre developer and operator Yondr has announced its purchase of 270 acres of land for a new data centre campus in Northern Virginia. The precise location has not been released but the site will be in a strategic position close to major fibre routes and power transmission lines.
The acquisition follows Yondr’s recent announcement that it will spend $2 billion to expand across North and South America. The plans are gathering pace with land acquired in Loudoun and Prince William Counties, Virginia. The sites will support 500MW of critical IT capacity with the first phase reaching completion by the end of 2022.
Additional projects are currently under development in London, Frankfurt, Berlin, Jakarta, Indonesia and in multiple locations in India. Yondr has committed to deliver data centres across five continents by 2024.
