Zajil acquired by Kalaam

Kalaam Telecom Bahrain has completed its acquisition of Kuwait Internet Service Provider (ISP) Zajil Telecom. The deal, which was formally announced in June, but trailed in an interview for Capacity Media several weeks earlier, creates a group company with combined revenues of over US $100 million and a strategic advantage as one of the top three ISPs in the GCC region.

One particular benefit of the deal for Kalaam is that it combines ownership of two large separate fibre networks through Zajil’s shareholding in the Europe India Gateway subsea cable network, and Kalaam’s own terrestrial fibre network.

Following completion of the deal, Kalaam will be the only ISP in region to hold ISP licences for Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
