Overview

Digital Edge is a new data center player focused on the Asia Pacific region, led by senior executives formerly with Equinix, Facebook, Tata Communications and Macquarie. Its formation was announced in August 2020, and it is backed by New York-based Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners. (Stonepeak is also majority owner of Cologix, a leading carrier-neutral data center platform in North America.) With a combined $1 billion of committed capital, Digital Edge has made a number of significant acquisitions so far.


It’s first deal, announced in August 2020, involved the acquisition of the Mejirozaka Data Center in Tokyo as well as a new 12MW development in Osaka. Eight months later, in April 2021, Digital Bridge announced the acquisition of a data center in Seoul and a Cable Landing Station in Busan, from Sejong Telecom. In May 2021, the Company signed agreements to acquire two additional fully-operational data centers in Tokyo from Japan’s Arteria Networks. In June 2021, the firm took a majority stake in Indonesian telco PT Indointernet (aka Indonet) for $165 million, making it the single largest shareholder.
