Founded in 2014, Kao Data is a UK-based wholesale colocation data centre operator with facilities in London as well as plans to develop a campus in Manchester. Kao is one of the few operators to have announced a large project in the North of the country with the region tipped to see more developments in the coming years.
As of October 2023, the company's shareholders are Infratil holding 53% of the shares, Legal & General Capital with 32%, and Goldacre NOE Group with 15% of the shares.
In November 2023, KAO announced that their Harlow facility's second phase of 10MW went live. Their data centres are able to host a wide range of tenants from large entreprise customers, cloud service providers as well as HPCs.
