Overview
NTT is a publicly listed company headquartered in Tokyo. The majority of the company’s business activities are focused around telecommunications and digital infrastructure.
NTT has grown its international footprint mainly through acquisitions. In 2012 it acquired UK-based Gyron which had presence in Slough and Hemel Hempstead, and in the same year expanded into India through the acquisition of Netmagic. In 2015 it concluded the purchase of e-shelter, Germany’s largest wholesale data centre operator. It’s last major M&A deal was in the US where in 2018 it took an 80% stake in US operator Raging Wire before buying taking full ownership the following year. Since 2019 NTT has undergone a rebranding exercise to being all group companies in line with its global identity.
The company has enjoyed strong growth in its data centre business and retains a top position in many of its markets.
In April 2022, NTT and Macquarie Asset Management have agreed to enter into a strategic real estate partnership covering NTT’s wholesale facilities across Europe and North America. NTT Global Data Centers operates data centres across various regions, including Asia, North America, Europe, and Oceania. These facilities are positioned for the provision of low-latency access to major business hubs and ensuring the availability and reliability of services.
