Open Hub Med

Overview

Open Hub Med's missions are to lift Italy's position in the international telecommunications environment, to offer interconnection and peering services and reduce latency to mediterranean countries from a neutral location and towards EU networks, to open and improve transit towards EU and Italy, and reduce data transport costs within the country. Open Hub Med's first project was launched in 2015 in Carini, Palermo. The data centre provides a network hub for all of the submarine cable landing points on the island of Sicilary as well as a peering point for the consortium's members. Members of the consortium include GTT, Eolo, MIX, Stack Infrastructure, Neomedia, Fastweb, Rete XMED, Retelit, In-site, Italtel, and Atomo Networks.
