Overview
SUNeVision iAdvantage, commonly referred to simply as Sunevision, is one of the largest data centre operators in Hong Kong. Sunevision was founded in 2000 as the technology wing of Asian property giant Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP). While Sunevision is now listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, SHKP remains the majority shareholder in the business. SHKP is notable in also having among its group companies SmarTone, one of the major cell phone networks in Hong Kong.
Sunevision's data centre portfolio comprises five high-rise facilities located across Hong Kong Island and the New Territories. Three of the facilities - MEGA Two, MEGA-i and MEGA Plus - are connected via a privately owned dark fibre network allowing greater interconnection between the facilities' occupiers.
In 2018, Sunevision won a public bid to acquire a 2.7 hectare parcel of land immediately North of their MEGA Plus campus for a record HK $5.4 billion (US $700 million). Development of the facility, MEGA IDC, is now underway.
