Overview
Telia is a telecommunications and mobile network company originating in Sweden, with presence all across Scandinavia and Baltics. It was founded in 2003 after the merger of a Swedish and a Finnish company Telia and Sonera. There was an attempt to merge with a Norwegian telecoms company, Telenor, but this was unsuccessful. Telenor is now Telia's largest competitor in the Nordic market.
Across the Nordic and Baltic states Telia owns many subsidiary companies that operate in their respective national markets. These include: Eesti Telekom in Estonia, Telia Finland and Call Me, a mobile network in Denmark.
They are listed on the stock market in Stockholm and Helsinki and have an annual revenue of around $10 billion.
In Q2 2023, Denmark, Telia Company entered into a bidding term sheet agreeing upon key terms on which to sell national operations and network assets to Norlys at an expected valuation of DKK 6.2 billion.
