Overview
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is a university that has earned a reputation as a world-class leader in research, teaching, and public engagement. The National Petascale Computing Facility, an 8175 sqm facility that houses computing, networking and data systems, is part of the university and supports one of the most powerful supercomputers called Blue Waters. The facility opened in 2010 and has a critical capacity of 24MW. In the summer of 2012, Blue Waters was installed. It takes up three-quarters of the raised-floor space and takes up half of the data centre's critical power capacity.
