Vantage Data Centers

Overview

Vantage is a US-based private equity backed data centre operator. The company was founded in 2010 through the purchase of an Intel data centre, and since then it has grown to become one of the fastest growing companies in the sector with expansion into Canada in 2019 and into Europe the following year with the acquisition of French operator Etix Everywhere and Wales-based NGD, both portfolio companies of InfraVia Capital, in 2020.

Vantage was initially backed by Silver Lake Partners before being acquired by Digital Colony in 2017. The business has had a significant amount of capital at its disposal, initially through the issue of $1.125 billion of securities in 2018, and in 2020 raised a $2 billion war chest for European expansion. Later in the same year, Vantage raised a further $1.25 billion in new capital to accelerate its global expansion plans.

In September 2021, Vantage DC announced two acquisitions/ merger with the APAC data center portfolios of Agile DC and PCCW (previously announced by DigitalBridge).

Also, in 2021, Vantage expanded its business to South Africa starting a development of a 80 MW campus in Johannesburg. It has also completed the acquisition of PCCW DC, adding 200 MW of existing and expansion capacity across Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.
