Overview

Verne Global is a fully owned subsidiary of Verne Holdings Ltd which operates a data centre in Iceland. The company was founded by Novator and General Catalyst, but in 2010, a charity fund Welcome Trust and Icelandic fund SF VI operated by Stefnir has joined.

In 2021 September, Verne Global has been acquired by investment firm Digital 9 Infrastructure for £231m ($320m).

In January 2022, Digital 9 Infrastructure announced further $90 million over the next year to fund expansion capacity by additional 20.7MW. The additional investment will result in total constructed capacity equal to approximately 40MW out of possible 100MW.

In June 2023, "Verne Global has secured a $100 million green term debt with an uncommitted $50 million accordion provision. <..> The fund will fund additional capacity under construction and development in 2023, refinance Verne Global's existing bridge loan facility for $26 million, and repay $50 million of the $62 million shareholder loan owed to D9 by Verne Global." writes DCD.

Digital 9 is an infrastructure fund that were listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2021.
