Overview
Previously announced in July 2024 as Project Ludicrous with Crusoe, President Trump re-announced the project as the Stargate AI Project in January 2025. A $500 billion initiative to transform America's AI infrastructure, with founding partners OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and MGX raising the initial $100 billion.
This site in Abilene, TX is initially planned to have 10 buildings with the first already under construction and the rest planning to follow mid-2025. Their goal is to have operations up by mid-2026.
Each proposed Stargate data center is expected to consume at least 50MW, with the entirety of the project across the board expected to consume 15GW.
