SafeHost, the Swiss colocation provider, is adding 18MW of capacity to its carrier neutral SH2 facility in Gland, Switzerland.
Located between Lausanne and Geneva, SH2 will be the country’s largest data centre once fully built out. The facility currently has 40MW of capacity with 14,000 sq m of technical space. The remaining 9,000 sq m of the site will be used as offices. The expansion is due to start in July 2021 and be completed within 18 months.
The $142.5 million (CHF 131.5 million) development has been contracted to Costruzioni Stradali e Civili SA (CSC), part of the WeBuild group.
SafeHost has three data centres around Geneva and a fourth, SH4, under construction in Rafz outside Zurich. A fifth facility, SH5, has been announced in the Beringen industrial quarter 45km north of Zurich.
