Indonesia's data centre market has developed primarily in Greater Jakarta of Central Java, and Batam of Riau Islands. Beyond those regions, primarily enterprise and legacy data centre facilities, are located in regions such as Surabaya, Palembang, Pekanbaru, and Manado.
Among emerging Southeast Asia nations, Indonesia was the first to see rapid growth in its data centre industry and Jakarta has grown to be the largest submarket in Indonesia.
The market developed around industrial parks in East Jakarta, where Cloud Service Providers have established their availability zones in key locations, with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Google each having self-build deployments and ongoing pipeline projects. Additionally, several Chinese cloud providers have deployed within colocation facilities to expand their regional presence.
Activities also developed in Central Jakarta in 2023, where colocation operators have established facilities around the Cyber 1 building. The Jakarta market has since reached a higher level of maturity and is experiencing more stable growth.
